About Image Serenity Photography & Design

I have been in love with faces all my life. When I was was younger I drew them - constantly! That lead me to attend college for fine art, and when I picked up my first SLR camera in 2005 taking portraits became natural to me in an instant.

I love faces, I love people, I love capturing the love shared within families and among friends.

Sierra’s Sneak Peak | Madison WI Senior Photographer

Monday, August 30th, 2010

When I was younger I used to get so annoyed when family friends would remark on how much I had grown up between visits, how my gaining years made them feel old… and now I get it. My niece Sierra is a Senior this year, and it’s hard to believe that it was 9 years ago already that I was myself at that age. Nine Years. It’s harder to believe that this very lovely young lady who used to be a fiery toddler that gave me a good run for my babysitting money(and in  tiny fits of rage call me a “cabbage nose” every time I gave her a time-out), is now babysitting my son. And I feel old.

Cheers kiddo! Happy Senior Year!

Pam’s Sneak Peak | Madison WI Senior Photographer

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

I got to do a super fun senior shoot last week with my niece Sierra and her friend Pam. There are literally tons still to go through, but I wanted to put up a little preview while they’re waiting so patiently(don’t worry Sierra, you’re next!).

Kevin & Emily | Madison, Wisconsin Wedding Photographer

Emily+Kevin

A sneak peak for Kevin & Emily! I had a fantastic time covering this wedding, and am so happy to have been part of it. The weather was threatening rain all day, but the stars must have been perfectly aligned because the showers held off and the sun even peeked out during the vows. Everyone was fantastic to work with, the bride and groom were glowing with joy, and the Rotary Gardens provided a fairytale backdrop for a beautiful ceremony.

Black & White Wednesday

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

One of the biggest bummers about my blog crash two weeks ago is that I lost all of my B&W Wednesday posts, and all of the fantastic comments on them. Some things just aren’t replaceable – but, it’s a new Wednesday, so when better to start over?

Last week I had the opportunity to take some photos for my friend Christine, who is expecting her first child very soon. These the first and third were already posted in the “teaser” collage I put up for her, but I wanted to share them again at full size, along with another that I really like, because I really loved this shoot.

I did not to much, if any, conversion other than to turn them black and white – the lighting in C’s home(and living room specifically) was perfect for this kind of shoot and she was very relaxed and  calm, a recipe that created beautiful results.

Black & White Drama

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Phew. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been able to participate over at Iheartfaces, though since the blog crash it looks like it’s been much longer than that! I’ve been exceedingly busy lately with shooting and home life and it just didn’t leave much room for blogging… but when I saw this week’s theme I HAD to play along.

This is a photo I took over 2 years ago during a practice & portfolio session I hosted at my home. Courtney was a great model, and brought a lot of fun to the shoot. It’s still one of my favorite black and whites.

Check out other great entries this week:

Crazy, Funny, Silly Face

Monday, August 10th, 2009

This week over at I Heart Faces they’re doing crazy/funny/silly faces, and when I saw the theme I immediately thought of this photo that I took of a friend of mine who was kind enough to come over and be my test subject as I practiced with my (then)new 40D. We spent a good deal of time goofing around during the session, so there were plenty of silly faces that came out of that shoot, but this one is my favorite – there’s something about those tiny little wrinkles in her brow that just make me giggle when I see them.

This week…

Local Filmmaker Andrew came in for some shots for his new website & headshots. It was genius.

David & Rebecca

Monday, October 20th, 2008

My brother David was married earlier this month, on what couldn’t have been a more beautiful day for a wedding.

I wish them the greatest of loves.
